    Almay? Yes please!

I don’t know about you but when I think of the brand Almay I don’t think of anything amazing. I think of it as the brand of makeup that is quite outdated, but recently I haven been passing the Almay stand and I have actually been looking. I’ve been trying to do some research and all I can find are bits and pieces of information about a re branding in the second half of 2017. For Christmas I was gifted 3 products from the Almay range and I am very surprised! Let’s start off with the Shadow Squad Quads, I have the shade 150 Pure Gold Baby. It is…

    New Year

The beginning of a new year means a lot of things to a lot of different people, it means the beginning of a new chapter and a new book all together. The time for New Years resolutions to be made and broken! To me a new year is a opportunity to reflect on your life and to appreciate the amazing experiences and opportunities you’ve had and to make the most of them. It’s a time to dream of new adventures and possibilities that are on their way! I’ve never really been one for making resolutions that I will most definitely break. I believe that if you want to make…

    Fresh start

It has been a minute since I restarted my Instagram, but after that realisation I needed some time to myself to really think about what I wanted for my brand and where I see myself going. Here I am, back with my new plan of action! Why did I do it? I started my Instagram page and blog because I needed a creative outlet, where I was able to tell people what I loved, is not about the followers and it really should never be. I think it is very important to focus on the purpose of your blog and why you felt you needed it. Followers aren’t the…

    Paint brushes as makeup brushes…??

DISCLAIMER**I really don’t want to upset anyone by this post these are just ways in which I have saved when it comes to beauty. I also think it is really important to explore our options when it comes to beauty as some brands and ranges are just very unaffordable for a student like myself*** Just wanted to make that clear – Hope you enjoy! Has the beauty industry been fooling us all along??? This article will touch on a way that you can save on brushes and a more affordable option than the extremely expensive brands out there.   I have been buying paintbrushes for as long as…

    Chemicals to avoid!!

Do we ever look closely at the products we are buying? Because I know I don’t! Recently I have become extremely aware of all the chemicals that are used in cosmetics. After doing some research I am in shock by the amount and types of chemicals that we are putting all over our face on a daily basis.   There are hundreds of chemicals that we come into contact with every day, some unintentionally and some on purpose. These chemicals are absorbed into our bodies without us even knowing. Most of these chemicals are skin irritants, skin penetrators and human carcinogens – so all the bad things we don’t…

DIY Rose water and Witch hazel facial spray

What you will need? Rose water Witch hazel Essential oil 200ml spray bottle (or any size spray bottle) Rose water: I used the Natures Nourishment Rose water from Dischem, it retails for about R40 a bottle. The problem with store brought rose-water is that there are added variants that are not completely natural. Making your own rose-water is quite simple. I will add the recipe at the bottom of this post. Rose water is an anti-inflammatory that helps reduce redness and swelling. It works very well as a cleanser and can treat acne, dermatitis and eczema. Witch Hazel: Witch Hazel is a natural anti-septic, it helps fade blemishes and brightens…

    #1 Aya Balm

Let’s talk about skincare, natural skincare without chemicals. Ever since I’ve started blogging I’ve become a little bit obsessed with skincare. I’ve been trying to find all the products that compliment my skin and keep it hydrated. Natural skincare has always been an interest of mine, I use a homemade facial spray and makeup remover (which will be up in a DIY post soon). I’ve always tried my best to stick to skincare that doesn’t have too many chemicals and that won’t strip your skin of all its natural oils and good properties. Some brands can be quite deceiving though! They market their products in a certain way to make…

    Clean brushes = Healthy skin

If you are like me then you apply all your makeup using brushes, I have a brush (or maybe a few) for every different product. I’ve always said you can never have enough brushes, but I definitely have my favorites. Also, if you are like me you wear makeup almost every day. I must say that recently as my skin has been getting better and my scars lightening I have been wearing makeup less and less. As I use brushes all the time they get very dirty quite quickly, I have always been quite paranoid about cleaning my brushes as I have heard some terrifying stories about all the…
