My Valentine’s Favourites
Throughout my makeup life I have always been afraid of the colours pink and red. Especially eye shadow, for some arbitrary reason I thought it would just make me looked like I’ve been crying all day… obviously it doesn’t but who knows. But now my older and wiser self is in love with pinks and reds! Especially eye shadow! I love a good neutral eye but nothing beats a tinge of light ink or a dark pink under eye!
So here are my Valentines favourites! Let’s start with the eyes!
The Saharan by Juvia’s
This is the first makeup pallet I received that had this colour tone as I only I purchase pallets with more neutral tones. The pinks are very subtle and a bit more bronze which I love! I’d wear these tones for a day look, with just a light layer on the top lid and then line the lower lashes with a darker tone. These colours are very pigmented and the colours are beautiful and vibrant. These colours apply wonderfully with a very smooth texture and they smell good too! I received this as a gift.
Onto the cheeks…
Anastasia Beverly Hills Sweets Glow Kit
This is a highlighter pallet but I sometimes use them as eyeshadow, they are wonderfully pigmented and have the richest colour. My two favourites are the Sassy Grape, it has a subtle purple colour that is so fun and pretty! Makes me feel like a grape lollipop all day long! And then Marshmallow! Which has a whiteish colour but when applied turns gold! Magic! I really love this one, it is so beautiful and soft!
I am in love with a bold lip! I mean I love wearing dark burgundy and blues! But every now and then a soft pink or sheer red just does the trick.
Let’s start with MAC, I love MAC’s Matt lippy, it applies so smoothly and stays on for quite a while! The colours are very pigmented and smell really good! They wear very well and don’t clump or feel too dry. These retail for around R240 at the MAC stores.
Diva – This is a burgundy lip colour with a bluish tone and pairs so well with a neutral eye. I love this colour and it was the first ever MAC lipstick I ever brought and it will probably need replacing soon!
Flat Out Fabulous – This is a very bright pink that is so fun and playful! I love wearing this on a girl’s night out.
Pink Plaid – This is a soft dusty pink tone that will pair nicely with a pink or bronze eye.
LA Girls Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Rebel – Through my browsing trips in Dischem I came across the LA girl brand, as I am a sucker for a purply shade and this one caught my eye. It applies very well and is very pigmented. The lippy wears very well and stays on well, my only critique is that it clumps a bit on the inner part of the lip if applied to thickly so I’ve learnt to start of with a very thin layer and then build up the colour on the edge of my lips trying to not make the inner part too thick.
Clinique’s Pop Glaze Sheer lip colour in Fireball Pop – I received this as a gift a long time ago and have only recently been brave enough to wear it and I love it! It applies like a lip balm but the colour stays very well! It is a lovely cherry red that matches most outfits. It pairs so well with neutral eye shadows and will brighten up your Valentine’s Day.
So, there you have it! My valentines favourite! All about my favourite pinks and reds! I have learnt over the past few years that pink and red is not something to be afraid of. So embrace the beauty of pink and red and flaunt it this Valentines day!
